Terms of Use
Ghosty, a nutrition diary for iPhone.

These terms are the agreement between you and BIXU STUDIO for the use of Ghosty. Installing or using the app means you accept them. Ghosty is licensed to you, not sold.
Ghosty is not medical advice. It is a diary with a good estimator attached. The numbers it produces are estimates — particularly for photographs and restaurant food — and it is not a medical device, a clinical nutrition service, or a substitute for a doctor or a dietitian. Do not use it to diagnose or treat anything. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are recovering from disordered eating, talk to a health professional before changing how you eat.
Apple's licence terms
Ghosty is distributed through the App Store, so Apple's Standard End User License Agreement applies to your use of it. Where those terms and these ones disagree, Apple's govern. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and is not a party to this agreement other than as a third-party beneficiary entitled to enforce it.
Your account
You need an account, because the point of it is that your diary survives your phone. You are responsible for keeping access to the Apple ID or Google account you sign in with. Do not use Ghosty if you are under 13.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Doing so erases your synced diary and cannot be undone.
Credits
The work of reading a meal description or a photo costs money to run, so it is metered in credits.
- Every account gets an allowance of 300 credits each month at no charge. It resets at the start of each calendar month.
- A credit is a unit of model time, not a unit of meals. A stronger accuracy setting spends the allowance faster; barcodes, saved foods and manual corrections spend nothing at all.
- Credits are a limit on use of the service. They are not currency, have no cash value, cannot be transferred, exchanged, or redeemed for money, and are only usable inside Ghosty.
- Unused free allowance does not carry into the next month.
Purchases
Everything is bought through Apple's In-App Purchase. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you confirm.
Credit packs
A credit pack is a one-off purchase that raises your monthly allowance for 30 days from the date of purchase, after which the allowance returns to normal. Packs stack: buy two and both count while both are live. Because a pack is consumed as it is used, it is not restorable through the App Store once delivered.
Subscription
The subscription is an auto-renewing monthly plan that raises your allowance to five times the free one for as long as it is active.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- It renews automatically each month unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends, at the price shown in the app.
- You can manage or cancel it in your device's App Store account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the period already paid for.
- The subscription raises a ceiling. It is a larger allowance, not an unlimited one, and the app shows you where you are against it.
Refunds
Purchases made through the App Store are refunded by Apple under Apple's policy, not by BIXU STUDIO. Requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com. Where a purchase is refunded, the credits it granted are withdrawn.
Fair use
Ghosty is for logging what you eat. Do not use it to break the law, do not try to get around the credit meter or the purchase system, do not attack or overload the service, and do not resell access to it. Automated or scripted use of the app is not permitted.
Your content
What you log is yours. You keep ownership of everything you put into Ghosty. You grant BIXU STUDIO only the permission needed to run the service for you: storing your diary so it syncs, and sending what you write or photograph to the AI provider so it can be turned into an answer. That permission ends when you delete your account. See the Privacy Policy for what is sent where.
Availability
Ghosty depends on services it does not own, and can be interrupted by any of them. The app is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent the law where you live allows. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud caused by BIXU STUDIO, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
To the extent the law allows, BIXU STUDIO is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and total liability for any claim relating to Ghosty is limited to what you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes and ending it
These terms may change; the date at the top will change with them, and material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Ghosty after that means accepting the new terms.
You can stop at any time by deleting your account. Access may be suspended or ended if these terms are broken.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights given to you by the law of the country you live in, including under the Australian Consumer Law, and nothing here removes them.
